OFFICIAL NOTICES

North Country Transit’s Projects

North Country Transit (NCT), a Tri County Community Action Program, Inc., was awarded Technical Assistance from the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA).  The Technical Assistance will be to perform a feasibility study of Carroll County to address what the areas needs are for public transportation.  CTAA has hired LSC a private consultant to undergo this study.  The project began in November of 2006 and the first technical memorandum from the consultant was released in March of 2007. The technical memorandum can be viewed online at http://www.lsccs.com

NCT has received an award of $116,550 from the Federal Transit Administration under their Public Transportation Participation (PTP) Pilot Program to develop an educational program on coordination of services. The title of the project is "Educating Human Service Agencies on the Benefits of a Regional Transportation System."  The objective of the project is to produce an educational program that can be used by agencies interested in coordinating services within a region.  The program will be produced by using NCT as the pilot and documenting the process.  The educational program will not only encompass the process of coordinating transportation services, but will address the many issues that fall within the “gray areas” of the process.  Once completed, the educational program will be available for use nationally from FTA.

NCT has applied for a grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation from the Tillotson Fund to enhance transportation services in the northern part of Coos County.  If awarded the grant would increase services for Colebrook and the surrounding towns. A “grass roots” group of interested members of the public, private business, and social service agencies met in January to discuss the needs of the community and offered their involvement working on the project.

If anyone would like more information on any of these projects please contact Beverly Raymond, Director of North Country Transit, 1-888-997-2020 or email to braymond@tccap.org.  NCT’s website can be accessed at www.tccap.org Click on Programs then Transportation
